A SEVENTY-YEAR-OLD man was rescued after getting into difficulties during a swim at Shaldon yesterday.

Paramedics treated the ailing pensioner at the riverside on Marine Parade after the alarm was raised just before 5pm.

It’s understood the casualty, who has not been named, passed out in the water.

He was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital for a check-up.
