NEWTON Abbot Police are appealing for witnesses to a distraction burglary in Kingsteignton between Midnight and 1am yesterday (Tuesday).

On their Facebook page the police said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information in connection with a report of a distraction burglary, to a property in Sandpath Road, Kingsteignton.

‘A male and female knocked on the resident’s door asking a question.

‘A short time later a different male was seen in the garden, it was later noticed that a handbag was stolen which was recovered nearby.

‘This took place some time between midnight and 1am on Tuesday.’

Anyone with information or CCTV in the area mentioned is asked to make contact, by phoning 101 or emailing [email protected] quoting crime reference no. CR/058945/21.

‘Please can residents be wary of this and report any similar incidents on 999 at the time it is taking place,’ added the spokesperson.
