POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 30s claims he was attacked and robbed in Newton Abbot on Friday.

The victim was walking under the railway line at Quay Road - leading to Brunel Industrial Estate - at around 4pm when he claims three strangers approached him.

It is thought one man hit the victim in the face as another pinned him to the wall whilst he had items taken from him.

Police have isued descriptions of three men they would like to talk to in connection with the incident. The first man is white, approximately 25-years-old, around 5ft 9ins tall, wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie. He was also wearing a hat under his hood. The second man is white, around 30-years-old, about 6ft tall, wearing black tracksuit bottoms, dark Nike trainers, large black puffer coat with a scarf around his face. The third suspect is white, wearing a white jumper and jeans.

Detective Constable Rich Jones said: ‘This was a brazen robbery and thankfully the victim was not badly hurt, though as you can imagine, it was quite a shocking experience for him as he was merely going about his businesses having been shopping in the town.’

The victim has his blue Motorola mobile phone stolen along with his brown leather wallet containing cash and debit cards. Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and who may have seen the males described in the vicinity of Quay Road heading in the direction of the town centre.
