AN ESTIMATED £30,000 worth of police car went up in smoke at Splatford Split on the A38 this morning.

A police officer was safely out of the marked estate vehicle when it burst into flames on the northbound carriageway just before 10.30am.

Two fire crews from Exeter were called to the scene where they used two hosereel jets to extinguish the blazing patrol car which was completely destroyed.
