A RECOVERY vehicle was severely damaged in a fire on the A38 Splatford to Haldon road yesterday evening (Tuesday).

|The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple reports of a recovery vehicle on fire.

Fire control immediately sent out one fire appliance from Danes Castle and one from Middlemoor.

A spokesperson said: ‘On arrival the incident commander confirmed one recovery vehicle well alight on the carriageway and crews used one hose reel jet and four breathing apparatus wearers to extinguish the fire.

‘The vehicle was severely damaged by fire and the cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.’
