FIREFIGHTERS across Teignbridge were called to help colleagues tackle a major blaze in Brixham early today.

As many as 80 firefighters were trying to subdue the flames at the Torbay Trading Estate, including crews from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Ashburton and Bovey Tracey.

The alarm was raised just before 4.30am. At the height of the blaze, some 15 pumps were at the scene – six of them from Teignbridge.

A fire spokesman said the pumps total had since been reduced to 13 with access gained to all affected units at the site.
