POLICE have called for greater vigilance in Teignbridge and the rest of the region after the terrorist slaughter in Paris. Senior officers are urging people to report anything suspicious in the wake of Friday’s barbaric attack on the French capital where 129 people were murdered and 100 critically injured. A spokesman for the two counties force said: ‘Although the threat level remains ‘severe’ there is currently no specific intelligence to suggest a threat nationally or locally. ‘The public should not be alarmed at this time - but it is important that we all remain alert with a sense of awareness and be vigilant to any suspicious persons, incidents or behaviour.’ Assistant Chief Constable Russ Middleton said: ‘We are increasing visible patrols, particularly at sensitive sites and key areas of the force area to ensure that people feel safe to go about their daily lives. ‘We are working closely with our communities and partners to offer reassurance and advice following the attacks in Paris.’
