Some 14 beach huts were attacked on Back Beach at The Point some time after 9pm.
Police are urging victims to register their losses and damage costs.
By this afternoon only two crime casualties had come forward - one losing a distinctive £700 pair of naval binoculars with 100x magnification and another suffering the loss of a gas cooker worth £100.
Each beach hut targeted suffered at least £100 damage after doors were kicked in.
Anyone on the sharp end of the criminal damage rampage - or who saw anything untoward on the evening - should contact police on 101 and quote crime reference CR/45411/16.
