THREE homes were evacuated after an arson attack on a garden shed in Kingsteignton.
Two fire crews from Newton Abbot dealt with the incident after the alarm was raised in Homers Crescent just after 5.30am today. Occupants at the affected address were able to quit their property safe and well. Neighbours either side were also evacuated as a precaution.
Numerous 999 calls were made as the shed fire raged in a back garden.
Firefighters in breathing gear used two hosereel jets to extinguish the flames.
A fire spokesman said police were called to investigate the matter as a suspected arson.
A police spokesman said no one was injured in the attack which destroyed the shed and its contents, including tools and power tools.
‘The fire is being treated as arson. We are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the road at the time of the offence to contact us,’ said the spokesman.
