A TAXI driver was rescued by firefighters after his car crashed off a dirt track near Lindridge Hall in Kingsteignton.

The cabbie was helped from his car when it ended up in a precarious position down a bank on its side just off Lindridge Hill.

His side of the vehicle ended up against a tree which trapped him inside.

Firefighters managed to put a line around the car to hold it steady while he was able to crawl out of the passenger door uninjured.

The cab caper happened after the casualty had dropped a fare off at Lindridge Hall and found himself on the narrow dirt track.

The alarm was raised just after 3am on Saturday.

Paramedics were called to the scene where they treated the man. He did not need to be taken to hospital.
