Firefighters from Bovey Tracey and Ashburton responded to reports of a road traffic collision at Heathfield this morning (Sunday, December 27).
Crews attended the two vehicle incident on the road from St Catherines School to Wifford Piggery just before 11.45am.
On arrival crews found two vehicles with one female still trapped inside one of the vehicles and she was duly released by firefighters using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools.
The casualty from the second vehicle had self-rescued on arrival of fire service.
Both female casualties were conveyed to hospital by a private vehicle for checks.
