A CAR burst into flames on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway of Telegraph Hill this morning.

Two pumps from Exeter responded to the emergency just after 5.30am.

Firefighters arrived to find the vehicle well alight in the middle of the busy A380.

A hosereel jet was used to snuff out the flames.

The car was severely damaged.

A fire spokesman said the cause was accidental.
