A woman believed to be in her 70s is in hospital and a man has been taken into police custody following an accident on the A379 near Stiles Farm, Starcross.

Police closed the road from Starcross to the Swan’s Nest roundabout, Exminster, after the accident which happened this morning.

The woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital. The driver of a vehicle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
