A WOMAN was carried half-a-mile to a waiting ambulance after breaking her ankle at a remote beauty spot on the River Teign.
Firefighters helped paramedics stretcher the 48-year-old casualty from the riverside at Teigngrace where she slipped and fell.
She tumbled down a bank and suffered a nasty open fracture to her lower leg just before 2pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
She was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Two fire crews from Newton Abbot responded to the shout, helping the ambulance team with the long lift from the accident scene.
