FOUR weeks of roadworks got underway this week on a busy section of the A380 on the edge of Newton Abbot.

Motorists have to slow down to 40mph as workmen re-surface the Exeter-bound carriageway between the Ware Barton and Eagle Farm junctions at Kingsteignton.

A similar section, on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway between the same turn-offs, was completed before Christmas with the same speed restrictions in place.

The work, which began today, is scheduled to finish on February 14, will involve overnight road closures between 6.30pm and 6am. There will also be a 24-hour contraflow system in place for the period while the bridge deck is waterproofed and parapet is replaced.

Diversions will be in place for the duration.

The speed restriction will be active in day time and over the weekend.
