LOUISE HODGE, of Strap Lane, Kingsteignton, for Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club, writes:

I am writing in response to the letter from Wendy Saunders.

Thank you, Wendy. We understand your worries and concerns for our town (Kingsteignton) and what the future holds with issues of housing development, roads and the important infrastructure, but can we take this opportunity to correct you?

It was Arnold White (Bob Williams) along with the new management of WBB Minerals' Gary Stringer who allowed us to develop Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club. Without their support and contribution the club would not be able to accommodate all 20 sports and community groups, which amounts to more than 2,000 people.

However, it was correct about the support and the army of people who helped the start-up process of Abbrook Park, and for the continuing support of members and clubs who use us today.

We understand the history and everyone remembers WBB. Many of us had family or friends who were affected by the changes which the new company brought, but we have to move forward.

We know Abbrook Park is neither guaranteed nor has a permanent location and that changes will inevitably occur with us as well as our town, but it's in everyone's best interest to work towards the common good.

We need to recognise compromise and have a closer liaison with all interested parties, and agree to negotiate a balance and a way forward.

It's in Kingsteignton's and, more importantly, our children's future that we all work towards a partnership approach.

After all, without change we don't have progress.
