TWO people escaped with minor injuries after a shunt involving two cars outside Newton Abbot Racecourse during the Wednesday afernoon rush hour.

Emergency services attended the scene near the racecourse gates in Newton Road, Kingsteignon, just before 4.30pm.

An ambulance spokesman said one person had facial injuries. Both casualties were treated at the scene.

The accident caused major traffic congestion.
