SUPPORTERS of the Teign Valley Action Group packed the community hall at Christow, on Saturday, to show solidarity in their fight against the re-opening of Ryecroft Quarry.

Jerry Horsman, vice chairman of the group, said it was 'an excellent turn out with a considerable number of new supporters'.

The meeting was addressed by John Bainbridge of the Dartmoor Preservation Association, and it was decided that the group, in conjunction with its solicitors, would prepare a strongly worded reply to Devon County Council concerning its inspector's report after the non-statutory inquiry.

The quarry operators had 'a mountain to climb' before they could actually start re-quarrying, Mr Horsman said.
