A complaint made against Buckfastleigh Community Forum regarding campaign material published in the run-up to the parish poll on March 1 was rejected by the Advertising standards Authority on Friday.

And the forum has welcomed the fact that Whitecleave Quarry developer MVV Environment Devonport Ltd referred its campaign material to the ASA.

Julia Wilton, co-chairman of the forum, said in a press statement this week she believed MVV used the tactic to try to 'smear' the form while at the same time trying to evade debating the serious issues.

And now the forum is consulting its members on whether to refer MVV and co-developer Gilpin Demolition to the ASA for alleged misleading comments it made in a leaflet distributed to residents of Buckfastleigh.
