Festival organisers in Teignbridge are being urged to get on board a new council-backed forum helping them ensure their event is a success.

The council is organising a Festivals Forum on Monday at Old Forde House. It will focus on making things easier for organisers and reassure them they have everything covered as well as keeping them up-to-date with developments in the industry.

Council leader Jeremy Christophers will open the forum before the Earl of Devon talks about his experience of holding festivals at his home, Powderham Castle.

Other organisations attending the forum will be all three emergency services and Devon County Council.

Cllr Christophers said: ‘Following a mega-year last year with Radio 1 Big Weekend and the Tour of Britain our attention turns to other local events.

‘This forum is an opportunity for everyone involved in the rich and varied South Devon festival season to share our experiences.

‘Our aim is to listen to how we and other statutory organisations can help the organisers do their job to the best possible standards, to ensure all our events are safe, sustainable and fun.’
