Unsigned south Devon band Babysnakes are slithering their way up the official iTunes rock chart with their official self-titled debut album.,They released it Monday and within 24 hours it had soared to number 55 in the chart and by the time of going to press it had risen to number 14.,As the sales are going so well it's also now in the main iTunes chart and, so far it has made it to position 159 out of the top 200 albums.,The band, which consists of Jon Lee, who grew up in Abbotskerswell, along with Christian Pitocco, Dean Mancey, and Kevin Jefferies, who are from Torbay and Falmouth, recorded the album at a studio in Stoke Gabriel.,'This success is totally unexpected,' said Jon.,'We are blown away. We never expected it to do so well. We keep checking iTunes every couple of hours to see how it's doing.,'We launched the album at Attic Nightclub, Torquay, and sold out the venue.,'We only had a small Facebook campaign, so we're so surprised at how it's taken off on iTunes.',Babysnakes, who have all played in other bands, are pitching their music at 17 to 50 year olds.,'Our music is rock, but there are quirky country tracks on the album, too,' said Jon.,'We funded the album ourselves and we're really happy with how things are going. ',The band formed in 2009 and have only done seven gigs to date, but thanks to word spreading via the internet their fan base is growing.,'We're now looking for management and someone to help us on our way,' added Jon.,Babysnakes play Teignbridge venues including The Den, Teignmouth, for the town's carnival on July 30 and Lemonfest, Newton Abbot Racecourse, on August 6.
