A ‘WHOPPING’ 630 Easter eggs were collected and distributed to those in need by Liverton couple Brian and Michelle Stevens.

They far egg-ceeded last year’s charity collection of 350 chocolate eggs.

The couple took over the annual Easter egg collection from the village’s Star Inn last year.

Michelle said: ‘We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone, and a few individuals have gone over and above during our collection this year. We really want to say the most enormous thank you.

‘Our final total was a whopping 630 Easter eggs. We delivered them all and were delighted to be able to make a difference to so many faces.’

Michelle said recipients included Lifeworks at Darlington; Homestart; East Shallowford Farm on Dartmoor; Dame Hannah’s at Seale Hayne; Homeless in Teignbridge Support; Teignbridge Homeless Action Today; Salvation Army; Devon Young Carers; and Rowcroft Hospice.

Michelle added: ‘Lots of people, and especially local businesses, were so very generous in donating, whether it was one egg or lots of eggs. We can’t name everyone but they know who they are. Again, thank you.

‘We’re looking forward to next year now and hoping to make this an annual event.’
