Newton Abbot All Whites followed up their league victory over Cleve the previous day by knocking the holders of the Devon Senior Cup, Barnstaple, out of the competition.
Victory booked a place in the final – to be played at Newton's home, Rackerhayes – against Exmouth, who thrashed Brixham 52-11 in the other semi.
The South Devon side were never behind throughout the 80 minutes, but as time approached the sides were deadlocked 8-8 with extra-time beckoning.
Newton's full back, Mike Saxton, had a chance to win the match in the 77th minute with a penalty after Barnstaple had dragged a maul down. However, in the tricky wind, his kick dipped just under the bar.
From the ensuing drop-out the same driving maul approach was adopted again and proved to be the winning ploy as the forwards, helped by some backs, drove scrum half Alex Jeffery over for the decisive, match-winning try.
Newton had opened the scoring with a long-range try after eight minutes.
A failed Barum penalty was run back in a move started by fly half Andy Birkett under his own posts. He linked with winger Sandy Browne, who found eager support from hooker Simon Mabin who, in turn, passed back to Browne to score the try.
The home side pressed for long spells but were unable to score against a well organised and determined Newton defence.
Barum levelled soon after the break when a deft kick to the corner was gathered by left winger Rob Elliott, who scored close to the flag.
A 55th minute penalty by Saxton edged Newton ahead, but an excellent kick from near the half way line by Josh Squire had the side level again.
Then came the dramatic finish – Saxton missed, Jeffrey scored and the All Whites were through to their first final since beating Brixham back in 2004.
Newton haven't staged a home final since the 1920s when they also, co-incidentally, faced Exmouth.
The date for this year's clash has yet to be confirmed, but it looks likely to be at the end of April or early May.
