PLANS for a new clubhouse for Newton Abbot rugby club have taken a major step forward with the unveiling of detailed proposals.

Long term, the aim is to relocate the club – nicknamed the All Whites – from their current home at Rackerhayes, Kingsteignton, to a new site off Old Exeter Road, Newton Abbot.

A planning application has been submitted for the single storey clubhouse, pitches and car parking by clay company Sibelco, the landowner.

Club finance director and former chairman Graham Rooke explained: 'Our current facilities do not attract good players.

'We are keen to be relocated as soon as possible to go to suitable premises for our level of rugby.
