More than 60 dogs have been rescued from a Newton Abbot apartment after they became too much for their owner to handle.
The Margaret Green Animal Rescue in Dorset took in the mix of chihuahuas, dachshunds and poodles, ranging from two-week old puppies to adults who were living together in one household, and are now treating them at their centres in both Tavistock and in Wareham, Dorset.
A spokesman for the charity said that the dogs have all undergone health checks and vaccinations although some remain "frightened and traumatised from their ordeal"
Despite everything they’ve been through, their gentle, loving natures are already beginning to shine through, though many are understandably frightened and traumatised from their ordeal.
Over the coming weeks, the dogs will be supported across the Devon and Dorset centres, where dedicated teams will be working tirelessly to help them recover, grow in confidence, and get back on their paws.
The centre, founded in 1965, has been working with the RSPCA and several volunteers to look after the dogs, some of which have required round-the-clock care.
