An eclectic mix of artwork and crafts is on sale in Kingsteignton tomorrow, June 22, in aid of Rowcroft Hospice.

The small ‘but extremely enthusiastic’ Friends Through Art group is holding a fundraiser at the United Reform Church, from 10am to 4pm.

As well as art works for sale there’ll also be pottery, knitted goods, cards, plants, handcrafted key fobs and pure wool items. During the event there’ll be traditional spinning wheel demonstrations, a grand draw and refreshments.

Wendy Sanders, the group’s leader, said: ‘Unlike many larger art groups we don’t have sponsorship but we do have a group of 20 local artists who show their love of painting through their art work.

‘After running Kingsteignton Art Group for 10 years I started my own group in 2012. From the onset the group has lived up to its name of Friends Through Art. Seven years later less confident artists are now selling their paintings.’

Since the group’s first fundraiser in 2014 they’ve raised more than £2400 at their one-day shows, mainly for Rowcroft Hospice.

Wendy added: ‘It’s a fact that one in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime and many of the Friends Through Art members have either personally experienced this terrible disease or have someone close to them who has suffered, so all cancer charities deserve to be well supported.’

Last year the Friends Through Art group raised £469 for Rowcroft Hospice.

Wendy added: ‘Come and join us in raising even more money – buy some art or a craft item and a draw ticket and enjoy a cuppa. All are welcome. We’d love to meet you.’
