A RIGHT royal plea has been issued by Ashburton’s carnival organisers for more blue blood.
They are anxious to hear from any loyal servants in the town willing to lend a helping hand to get the carnival’s prize-winning ‘royal float’ on the road next year.
A gap needs to be filled soon after faithful subjects Nick and Gemma Laity and Bon and Hannah Rymel decided to step down from their regal duties.
The two couples have helped the royal float – featuring the town’s carnival queen, princesses and attendants – pick up a string of prizes on parades around south Devon.
Anyone who feels they have the skills to design, build and organise a float can turn up for tomorrow’s carnival committee meeting – an informal gathering at the Silent Whistle pub at 7.30pm on November 14.
Takers for the voluntary task can choose costumes, assemble the float and organise a vehicle and driver.
A committee spokesman said: ‘It’s quite a commitment, but those interested would have as much help and guidance from the past sub-committee as they would need.’
