Ashburton Cricket Club enjoyed its best season for many years both on and off the field. This culminated in the annual awards evening at Dainton Golf Club, which was enjoyed by all.
The first team gained promotion, the seconds consolidated a mid-table position after promotion the previous season, while the Sunday side produced some improving performances and finished third in division four of the South Devon League.
The youth section played in three age groups in the South Devon Youth League with a number of good results.
Off the field, the new clubhouse continues to develop and will be operational for the start of next season.
The final match of the season should have been the President's XI v Chairman's XI, but sadly it poured with rain, not uncommon this season!
Undaunted, the players trooped off to the Ashmoor Recreation Centre to play indoor cricket and return to the clubhouse for a barbecue.
'This never-say-die attitude has underpinned all that has happened at the club this year,' said a spokesman for Ashburton CC.
