PLUCKY teenager Jasmine Flay, from Bishopsteignton, who is undergoing pioneering cancer treatment, has won a special award at South Devon College.
She received the Overcoming Adversity category in the Inspirational Teens Awards Ceremony, and is pictured right receiving her award from principal Stephen Criddle during a special evening.
Jasmine, 18, suffers from a rare cancer, multiple enderine neoplasia, and has a tumour in her windpipe. She is making regular trips to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Washington DC in the USA, a world leader in clinical research.
They are treating her free of charge, but the family has to cover travel and living costs, and generous readers, businesses and the public have donated funds to help cover the overheads.
