THE motorist involved in a pre-Christmas accident in Newton Abbot which left a 12-year-old girl fighting for her life has given her whole-hearted support to a campaign to improve road safety in the town.

The driver, who gave her name but does not want it published, has endorsed moves by local charity transport manager David Gwilym to give greater protection to the hundreds of students who converge on the Highweek Street accident area at the start and end of every weekday.

'I support him 110 per cent. Someone has to do something.
