Kingskerswell Parish Council is up in arms about a badger research project set up by Devon County Council at Kingskerswell Downs without its consent.
The parish council was only alerted of the survey when dog walkers came across the project when they found pellets put down for the badgers to eat towards the end of last week.
As they knew nothing about the badger survey, the walkers thought the pellets were poison.
They called the RSPCA and an inspector was sent out and agreed that the pellets looked harmful and they were all dug up.
