Teignmouth ladies secured the Sheelah Creasy Bowl after a thrilling final against Saunton, played at Honiton.

Having got through the semi-finals in the morning by beating Staddon Heights, the result of the finals in the afternoon all hung on the last match, which went to the 19th hole, but Sue Baker kept her nerve to clinch the match for Teignmouth.

'It is more than ten years since Teignmouth won this trophy, so everyone is absolutely delighted. Honiton were excellent hosts and the whole event was extremely well organised by the DLCGA.'

Earlier in the week. at Teignmouth, the ladies played the rearranged Eclipse Salver and MacMillan Spoon competitions.

The winner of both competitions and division three was Rosie Burnham with a superb 44 points. Her handicap is now down to 29. Glynis Spearman won division one with 39 points and Yvonne Bladon won division two with 36 points.

There were three twos, carded by Vicky Holloway, Glynis Spearman and Jane Wayman.

The pairing of Carole Jackson and Rosemary Watson finished second in the four-ball better-ball event at Churston, being narrowly beaten on the back nine.

In the final Friday evening mixed greensomes competition of the year, the winners were Jean Stell and Jim Blazeby who, despite the rain, came in with a superb 46 points.
