I have lived in Teignmouth for more than 30 years and have two businesses in the town.
My children enjoyed the fair and now my grandchildren do. I agree totally with Cllr Ian Parkes and his defence of David Rowland, the fair boss, in saying that he is a big benefactor to the town.
The younger generation, the holidaymakers and the locals all enjoy it. I appreciate that we have to look after the Den but I'm sure that we could still have the fair, all be it for a shorter time.
As for Ralph Brown (a relatively new businessman to the town), what on earth is he on about?
Does he think he's the only local who employs 30 staff or more, pays business rates, purchases all his produce locally and is open 364 days a year?
There are many of us, but not everything is about us – it's about what's good for the town and for the people of the town and the fair is a tradition.
I'm sure all of us business people can support it for a short time of the year.
