IT’S been a tense few months for the organisers of Powderham Castle’s very first Gone Wild Festival with Bear Grylls but the good news is that the festival will take place this August.

Following Boris Johnson’s announcement of the roadmap for lifting lockdown last week, organisers seen an interest in tickets for the festival which will feature a unique mix of outdoor adventure activities, live music and top explorers and adventurers over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

With numerous festivals and events being cancelled or postponed around them, the team behind Gone Wild took chance and decided to weather the storm.

And with the news that all social distancing and limits on numbers of event attendees are due to end in June, their positive outlook had paid off.

‘After the Government’s announcement, we are good to go!’ said a delighted Bear. ‘Hopefully Gone Wild will really be the light at the end of the tunnel for so many people.

‘I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Royal Marines Charity, who have worked tirelessly to support so many families during this pandemic, but who have had their fundraising income slashed to almost nothing.

‘It’s been tough for so many. But tough times are also times of opportunity, so I’d love people to join me at the festival, where a percentage of all the ticket money goes directly to support those who need it most.’

With international travel still looking to be off the cards this summer, those looking for staycations and out of the ordinary experiences the three day event is not your normal festival.

As well as the chance to se heading bands Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight visitors of all ages will also be able to experience a range of activities including including Be Military Fit family workouts, a Royal Marines obstacle course, paddleboarding, bushcraft skills and even a spa experience.

Im addition to this there will be workshops and motivational talks from the likes of explorer Steve Backshall, Britain’s top female boxer Nicola Adams and former Blue Peter presenter and two-time open water swimming world record holder Ayo Akinwolere.

‘After such a difficult year for so many people the festival is a chance for families to reconnect and get outdoors in a fun, safe adventure environment,’ continued Bear.

‘It’s all about amazing experiences shared together. Powderham Castle a spectacular setting for this and I can’t wait to join everyone for a weekend of fun, adventure activities, making some epic memories, and supporting the inspiring work of the Royal Marines charity.’
