YOUNGSTERS at Moretonhampstead Primary School put their creative skills to the test recently and designed some Dartmoor Beasties.

Artist Scott Walker popped into the school to talk all things myths and encouraged pupils to think about what modern beasts would look like.

They were then tasked with painting their beasts onto stones and pebbles.

Mr Walker is creating his own Dartmoor Beasties, which will go on display later this month in Moretonhampstead.

Mischa Eligoloff, project producer, said: ‘We have been working with a wide range of youngsters and groups in the town as part of this exciting arts project.

‘It has been wonderful to see the brilliant, creative, work that has resulted from the workshops we have run and it’s a fantastic opportunity to encourage the children to appreciate the wonderful countryside and scenery we live in, as well as promoting an awareness of the rich history of myths and legends.’

A public Dartmoor Beastie workshop is taking place in Moretonhampstead town centre on Saturday.
