Police in Newton Abbot have said a successful clampdown on underage drinkers last month has resulted in a decision to make the operation a regular feature of the town beat.

A Friday and Saturday evening operation was staged in parks and hot spots last month during which officers sought out young troublemakers.

On one occasion 20 youths in Osborne Park were caught with booze and on another three occasions, underage drinkers were found in Courtenay Park.
