Carol Swiecicka, of the Newton Abbot Travel Club receives her BEM from the Lord Lieutenant of Devon at CTCRM (Commando Training Centre Royal Marines) Lympstone,

She was awarded the BEM in the New Year’s Honours.

Carol received it for ‘Services to the Community’ for the trips and fundraising she organises.

Recently the club donated to Devon Freewheelers, Devon Marie Curie and Rowcroft Hospice.

‘I still don’t feel I deserve it,’ said a modest Carol, ‘But all our club members do and were good enough to nominate me.
