A CAMPAIGN is being mounted to try to salvage the under-threat Teign estuary cycle-pedestrian route.
Teignmouth Town Council is spearheading the last-ditch effort, and hopes to coordinate support from Bishopsteignton, Shaldon and Newton Abbot councils.
Members heard on Tuesday that it could still be possible to save part of the trail, from Kingsteignton to Bishopsteignton.
Last week the Teignmouth Post exclusively revealed that the county council was likely to axe the long awaited £10 million scheme because of government funding cuts.
But the final decision rests with the county council's cabinet, which will decide later this year.
There is now confusion about exactly where the county council stands on the issue.
