THE big screen returns for a second night at Buckfastleigh Town Hall, tomorrow.

After the successful pre-Christmas screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Grand Budapest Hotel, the hall will be converted again into a high definition cinema to show The Martian, starring Matt Damon.

Buckfastleigh town councillor Simon Rines said: ‘The 14ft-wide screen will give the experience of being in a real cinema and the town hall’s modern PA system and lighting rig will add to the impact.

‘They’ll also be an atmospheric cocktail bar downstairs serving cocktails, wine, beer, soft drinks and, of course, ice cream, popcorn and nibbles.’

The plan is to run monthly screenings at the hall.

Cllr Rines added: ‘We want the community to have a big say in which films will be screened, so we’ll be setting up a registration system of some sort, but also we’ll just talk to people to get an idea of what type of films they want to watch.

‘Hopefully this will grow so that we can have special themed events.’
