After more than three decades of doing 'the best job in the world' Kingsteignton librarian Brenda Warren has stamped her last book.
Mrs Warren has decided to call it a day in order to spend more time with husband David and enjoy her hobbies, which include embroidery and walking.
'I've reached the age of 71 and thought it was time to retire,' she told the Advertiser prior to a farewell charity coffee morning on Saturday that attracted plenty of friends and well-wishers, including mayor Cllr Beryl Austen, who brought flowers on behalf of the town council.
'I shall miss the library though. It has been the best job in the world. Dealing with the public and giving them such a wonderful service all for free, what could be better than that?
'I shall be coming in as a customer, though, so I will still get to see my colleagues.'
Becky Filby, secretary of the library's friends' group, said Mrs Warren would be missed.<
