BOVEY TRACEY AND CHUDLEIGH – Health chiefs said this week they had patients’ safety uppermost in their minds with plans to transfer hospital beds from community hospitals at Bovey Tracey and Ashburton/Buckfastleigh to Newton Abbot during winter.

The plans have caused outrage in the three towns, with hospitals league of friends representatives and town councillors roundly criticising the scheme.
