The award-winning Contemporary Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey attracts nearly 10,000 visitors and has become one of the most prestigious and much loved craft events in the UK.
There are many independent retailers in Bovey Tracey and the craft festival team is passionate about supporting and celebrating their local community.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grass-roots campaign which exists to support, promote and inspire small businesses, on the first Saturday in December and beyond.
Last year 16.5 million people shopped in small businesses on December 6, an increase of 20 per cent or 2.7 million more people, spending £504 million in one day.
This year, The Contemporary Craft Festival Shop is getting involved again on December 5.
The shop will be marking Small Business Saturday with complimentary festive treats from Devon, as well as ten per cent off for all visitors.
Makers who took part in the festival in June keep the shop stocked with beautiful handmade ceramics, jewellery, lighting, textiles and more – perfect for unique gifts for Christmas.
Also in Bovey Tracey, the Devon Guild of Craftsmen will be celebrating on Small Business Saturday with its Christmas exhibition and drop-in workshops; online business The Cheese Shed will be opening its doors and offering cheese samples and a look behind the scenes at its famous cheese wedding cakes; specialist wool shop Spin A Yarn will be offering visitors ten per cent off and free drinks; and the town’s Christmas lights will be turned on at 4pm.
