THE gardens of Bovey Tracey have won another award.

As a new season beckons, the town’s parks department has received a prestigious five-star award for last year’s efforts.

Bovey resident Richard Taylor was so impressed with the public gardens around the town he nominated them in the 2016 South West in Bloom competition and the council’s parks department has bagged the top prize in the Best Parks category.

The award follows a second silver gilt win in the Pennants category and an award for the Cromwell Arms pub for its colourful floral display.

Town mayor Cllr Tony Allen said this week’s win was due to the first-class hard work and dedication shown by grounds team Ron Hubbard and Roger Vance .
