A?DEVELOPER behind a controversial housing estate at Bovey Tracey has launched an appeal which could result in a public inquiry.

Landowner Ben Nock wants to build 205 homes at Bradley Bends together with a group of industrial units.

Last month he was refused planning permission by Teignbridge Council.

Members of the authority's planning committee voted against the scheme despite a recommendation from officers that they give the scheme their blessing.

Despite the officers' claim that the development would help meet the district's housing needs, councillors sided with the town council and 850 residents
