A popular abseil event is on in the Teign Valley this weekend.
Brave participants, who are not afraid of heights and don’t mind getting wet, are abseiling 220 feet down Canonteign Falls – England’s highest waterfall - for Children’s Hospice South West on July 21 or 22.
Jayne Jarrett, events fundraiser, said: ‘Although this is an extreme challenge and you will need to be physically fit to take part, the rewards are definitely worth it.
‘There’s a great team spirit and participants have a real sense of achievement after doing it. We have some supporters that return year after year just to prove that they are still up to the challenge.’
The challenge includes a 15 to 20 minute walk up a steep ascent, and participants must be confident in dropping from heights and navigating water. The event includes full instruction from event provider Dave Talbot Adventure Events.
All sponsorship raised will help support the vital work of Children’s Hospice South West, which offers care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
The charity suggests a minimum of £100 sponsorship per person.
Canonteign Falls is also a great location for spectators, so family and friends are invited to watch for a reduced entry fee to the falls.
