COMING into land – the final deck section of the £1.1 million Newton Abbot Town Quay Bridge was lifted into place across the River Teign on Tuesday.

The deck sections fitted like a glove and by early next year the bridge will be open, providing pedestrian and cycle passage between Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton and running alongside the racecourse.

On October 2, the 30 metres steel mast was lifted into position. It carries the weight of most of the bridge via cables.
