Following another big year of events and activities, the Orchard Millennium Green Trust in Buckfastleigh is inviting people to hear further news and developments for the year ahead at their annual town meeting tomorrow, February 12.
The meeting will be at Buckfastleigh Town Hall, from 7pm, and will include a brief review and financial presentation, a look ahead to the upcoming year of events and an opportunity for visitors to ask questions and chat with trustees.
Trustee Ann Werry and event coordinator Trevor Jones said: ‘We all thought 2016 was a big year for the Green, however, despite the high bar we had set ourselves, we think that 2017 surpassed this.
‘The Buckafstleigh Annual Fun Day, which we were proud to host, has to be one of the most popular we have had in recent memory and we were also delighted to work in partnership with the local Christmas Fair organisers to bring the town some seasonal festive cheer with another wonderful Carols on the Green concert.’
Andrew Rudgley, chairman of the OMG Trust, added: ‘We were also delighted to welcome organisers of an apple themed family day in October and following a successful afternoon are eagerly anticipating their return for October 2018.
‘And of course, after years of planning, we were thrilled to officially open our new multi-purpose performance canopy to act as a centrepiece for the Green. It’s a place of shelter for guests but, most importantly, a performance area and stage for the variety of events we aspire to offer to the community.’
The OMG Trust will kick off this year’s events at the end of March with their flagship Tea on the Green Parties.
Early plans have started for this year’s Buckfastleigh Annual Fun Day in June, and the return of vintage vocal trio The Liberty Sisters has been confirmed for the event.
Mr Rudgley added: ‘As we said last year, our mission to provide activities and entertainment by the community, for the community, continues to gain momentum year on year and we are pleased that we have, once again, been able to offer the town another twelve months of family fun and are looking forward to another busy season.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our trustees, volunteers and helpers for their tireless efforts in delivering an exciting 2017 and for their continued support to the future of the Green.’
