ANTONY Lynch has been confirmed as Buckland Athletic's new player-manager, writes Dean Stacey.

The club's decision to hand the veteran striker the role on a permanent basis came on the back of two cup wins – against Elburton Villa and the University of Exeter in the Westinsure Devon St Luke's and Throgmorton competitions respectively – and a hard-fought league draw away at much-fancied Bodmin Town.

He got his reign off to a dream start last Saturday, guiding the team to a 6-0 victory over Wadebridge Town, the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League's bottom club.

Lynch also led by example on the pitch, scoring two of the goals. A Liam Moseley hat-trick and a solitary strike from Mike Booth completed the rout.

The new boss is being assisted by former Torquay United and Exeter City defender Tom Kelly, well-known in the Teignbridge football scene after spells at Teignmouth, Bovey Tracey and Ipplepen Athletic, and coach Jamie Carwardine, who is in his third full season with the club.FULL STORY IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
