A group of fearless supermarket workers from Asda’s Newton Abbot store got ‘down and dirty’ on Devon’s Bear Trail to raise money for charity.
They joined staff from three other regional Asda stores to take part in the muddy fundraiser for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, which raises money for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.
Ben Jordan, owner of the Bear Trail, provided use of the attraction, which is just outside Cullompton, for free.
The staff were challenged to tackle the Army-style obstacle course, but with an extra twist, they had to safely carry an egg around with them.
Teams from stores in Yeovil, Bridgwater, Newton Abbot and Highbridge took part in the fun contest. They have raised more than £850.
Jane Enthwistle, community life champion at Newton Abbot Asda, said: ‘The Bear Trail have very kindly given their attraction for free. It was a really fun challenge that everyone loved taking part in.
‘It is the 20th anniversary of Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign this year so we decided to do a special fundraiser for it.’
Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised more than £50 million in the 20 years it has been running.
The Bear Trail is a family adventure and assault course based outside Cullompton at Westcott on the B3181.
Designed to cater for all ages, it involves swinging across mudpits, balancing on beams, crawling through pipes and hurtling down zipwires.
Ben Jordan, owner of the Bear Trail, said they were pleased to be able to support Asda’s fundraising efforts.
He added: ‘It was great to see these guys having so much fun today – it was a pleasure to host them and hope that we’ve helped them raise a lot of money for Tickled Pink.’
