BOVEY Tracey’s Contemporary Craft Festival walked away with the top award at the 2017/18 South West Tourism Excellence Awards last night (Feb 1st).
The Festival picked up the Winner of Winners award, having already gained gold in the Tourism Event/Festival of the Year Award, for their commitment to excellence, people, partnership, local provenance, education, development and for supporting those who can’t help themselves.
The awards ceremony, held at Torquay’s Riviera International Conference centre, was the biggest regional gathering of South West tourism businesses, with 123 different awards presented following a rigorous judging process in which a record 647 entries were considered.
Out of these numerous entries businesses from the Teignbridge area acquitted themselves well. Starcross-based Cofton Holidays gained a bronze award in the Holiday Park of the Year category, while The River Dart Country Park picked up two Bronze Awards for Camping and Caravan Park of the Year and Sustainable Tourism Award.
A silver award went to Bovey Castle for the Large Hotel of the Year award, while Bulleigh Barton Manor also gained a silver for Dog Friendly Business of The Year.
Finally the Glas-Denbury Music and Arts Festival took bronze in the Tourism Event/Festival of the Year category.
